(True) friends are for "just being there" when you most need them. And good friends know you'll do the same for them when they need you. Kindness and generousity don't expect a payback, or at least not the actual real kindness and generousity. If someone is being kind and generous expecting something back, (s)he's acting by the wrong causes.

Being yourself, being who you are, is what friends want from you as a "payback". Just keep being as nice, kind, generous and everything you are, and good friends will feel filled with such a great feeling... they'll do anything for you, without asking questions, without questioning your reasons.
